Africa Awareness Week

Here in Jersey, Channel Islands we have been celebrating Africa Awareness Week (21st - 26th May) Londoloza Trust took part in many different aspects of Africa Awareness Week with the penultimate day being Africa Day on the 25th and the Gala dinner on Saturday 26th May.

We were lucky enough to have been invited in to some of the local schools to help raise awareness and teach the local children some of our knowledge of our beautiful continent. The week started with us show casing African crafts on stalls in King Street, St Helier.

We were very lucky to have been donated to some beautiful items to sell which brought people to our stall to learn more about our trust and what we aim to do. We had an extremely positive response from the public with many people offering their time to help and many people wanting to get involved with volunteering on our projects.

On Thursday we had an amazing food stall selling a wide range of African dishes from Boerwors to Plantain, African Spiced Chicken to Beef Pilau rice, this was a complete sell out! I think the wonderful smell of the Braai (BBQ) wafting up and down the town may have had something to do with it :-)

Friday saw the girls strutting their stuff in the fashion show wearing handmade African attire........ To be continued
